Task Summary: Training in Irregular Silviculture in the Lowlands

Provision of three one-day training courses in continuous cover forest management: Irregular Silviculture in the Lowlands – Transformation in Practice. After an in-door explanation of the principles and decision making processes, the attendees undertook the marking decision process themselves in a one-hectare plot (the Marteloscope) at Stourhead forest. Marking data for each of the marking teams was subsequently analysed in a sophisticated spreadsheet to illustrate the impact of the teams’ decisions, followed by discussion and summary.
